Happy New Year!
Happy New Year from sunny Florida!☀️
We arrived safe December 28th with two horses and the other 4 followed a few days later.
This marks my 6th season in Wellington, Florida. Two seasons as a working student and four on my own. This year has been what feels like the quickest to settle in and horses were all into work by the end of week one of their arrival. It’s an honor to train and work with these incredible animals each day where the sun shines warm and I have access to the top trainers in the world! It’s truly the place to be in the winter months.
CeCe is my working student this season. Her hard work, smiles and upbeat attitude will take her places! I’m so grateful to have her here and so appreciate her eagerness to learn and grit through the not so fun days. She was able to bring her leased horse, Bravado, down with us to Fl and I’m excited for them to get in the show ring soon.
We have six horses total with us this season - #4baysand2grays! Some have come down for continued training and I have two sales horses with me. Check the sales page for more info.
Our first week was spent getting settled in, finished the last of body clipping a couple of the horses and living arrangements all set up and horses hacked.
Week two CeCe arrived and everything went into full work. A good friend of mine came down to visit at the end of the week and we took a few afternoon's after the horses worked to go see the sights. One afternoon was spent at Loggerhead marine life center, the beach and ice cream. We also took a few hours to go to the Lion Country Safari. It was a fun adventure and one I would recommend if you are in the area and looking for something non-horsey related to do.
The big horse shows have also started up. We went to the opening night at WEF for showjumping and this last Friday was the opening evening at Global for Friday Night Lights.
Week three we found a good routine and the horses all feel fit and mentally ready for the season. I start lessons with Kathy Connelly this week!
